Saphan Pla Market is a tiny market held at weekends on a pier.

I think this is where the ferries to Pattaya used to leave from.

A little monkey came to visit.

It’s not exactly a market, as there are simply around 30 food stalls and tables to sample what you buy.

You can enjoy meat or seafood kebabs, grilled insects, a few desserts and a beer.

All this, of course, to music. It’s a very pleasant place because it’s cool and you can enjoy the sun setting behind the hills.

A service you can only find in Thailand: 2 "motorsei" are available to get to the toilets, which are at the very end of the jetty.

It’s free and, best of all, you simply signal that you’re borrowing the scooter, without even leaving any ID.

It wouldn’t occur to anyone to steal the scooter or even use it for anything other than going to the toilet.

We ended the evening with an excellent foot massage before returning to our vehicle.
