In Bangkok, there are many "mixed" couples, composed of a European and a Thai. On the contrary, I haven’t seen any. What is striking is that regardless of the age of the European, say from 30 to 60 years old, the Thai seems to be about thirty years old.
This morning at breakfast at the hotel, one of these couples. A European (a style that I don’t like too much, but let’s pass) with a much younger Thai. They didn’t talk to each other, they had lunch in front of each other in silence. The young woman took great advantage of the buffet. He took in a very... "European" way 2 small toasts of bread with butter and jam.
We also see some couples composed of an old European (over 75 years old) and a Thai who seems to be about fifty years old. I suppose these are couples formed much longer ago.
Some Europeans now octogenarians came to retire in Thailand more than 20 years ago
