Return to Thailand

After a little more than 2 months in France and Christmas parties with my family always as nice, noisy, restless, plus a little motorcycle ride to see friends, my daughter, my brother and my sister, I leave for Thailand, with still as much enthusiasm and desire for discoveries, but with some changes in strategy.

To begin with, I put away my suitcase and opted for a large travel cover that contains my golf bag plus the minimum health and clothes for 3 days.

No need to take clothes to Thailand where you can find everything, of good quality, for so little.

Second change, I will no longer embark on the same frenzy of discoveries as on my first stay. I had walked a lot, a lot, every day, sometimes more than 15 kilometres, travelled every place in all directions and very quickly, to see as many temples, markets, monuments, people as possible.

I will act more calmly this time, while continuing my discoveries, of course.

I also intend to play golf more. That’s why I took my bag. On the one hand I will play better (well I hope) with my own equipment. On the other hand, renting a bag in some golf courses is rather expensive, and I will therefore make substantial savings that will allow me to buy more green-fees

Return therefore to Bangkok on March 4 by changing departure airport and company. I find a flight from Toulouse with Lufthansa, stopover in Munich, departure from Toulouse at 6:45 p.m. to arrive in Bangkok the next day at 3:15 p.m., it seems not bad to me. The journey between Toulouse and Munich is operated by Air Dolomiti on a small Brazilian Embraer 190 aircraft, which has the particularity of having little legroom and compartments for cabin luggage that are really very narrow. Well, for less than 2 hours of flight, it passes.

I like the smoking cages at the Munich airport

The rest of the trip after 2 hours of stopover in Munich is done in an Airbus A350 whose legroom is not the strong point. But especially the service on board is really not up to par.

More than 30 minutes will pass between the provision of the meal platter and the drinks that are supposed to go with it. And the same problem will arise for breakfast. On the other hand, the service is so slow that the first passengers will be served around 11:30 p.m. and the last around 12:45 a.m. On the other hand, the quality of the meal and breakfast is much lower than the one I observed on Emirates or Qatar Airways.

In short, I think that unless there are very exceptional rates, Lufthansa is over for me.

The piloting is impeccable, it was nice all along. Landing in Bangkok on time and my big bag is there, but quite damaged underneath. It’s a bit of my fault, I’ll know next time that you have to protect the uprights of the tripod of the golf bag. It was they who with the friction, pierced the beautiful Big Max cover. I have also observed since then that on the Decathlon cover currently sold, there are reinforcements at that level.

Very elegant, these carts at Bangkok airport

Finally, I find Bangkok, a city that is still so polluted, agitated, lively, endearing and from the airport, the scents of Thai food tickle my nostrils pleasantly.
