The French of Thailand voted and they mostly voted for the candidate of the national rally. Fortunately, thanks to the other votes in this 11th constituency of the French abroad, that is to say the votes of the other Asian countries, the candidate of the national rally was eliminated in the first round, and there will therefore be a second round between the outgoing candidate of the Presidential Majority and the New Popular Front candidate.
It seems that this vote is mainly a vote of rejection by Mrs. Genevet, an outgoing MP, many of whom she believe did nothing good during her mandate.
Rejection vote, okay, but why vote for the RN?
It is as interesting as it is surprising to see that immigrants from Thailand voted massively for the National Rally, an anti-immigrant party.
Because these French people are immigrants here. Oh of course for Thailand we don’t say immigrants. French immigrants to Thailand, as in other countries, are called "expatriates".
We should even rather say "expats", it’s true that it’s funny more class than saying immigrants.
But they are still immigrants.
So these immigrants in Thailand voted for the party that wants to prevent immigration to France, incidentally put out immigrants who are already there and above all attack all those who are in an irregular situation and take advantage of certain situations.
Good!
For 2 years in Thailand I have been starting to have a little knowledge of the various types of farangs that can be found here.
To schematize, we find in Thailand:
Retirees who mostly came here to find better living conditions, especially financial ones. They spend their money and keep the local economy alive. Even if French tourists do not have a very good reputation, I have the impression that it is going pretty well for this category of which I am a part, although their integration efforts often leave something to be desired. (See below)
Entrepreneurs who came to take advantage of the low charges and reduced cost of labor, for some earning a very good living, sometimes (not all fortunately) by exploiting and despising their Thai employees.
Some real students
Many fake students, who entered the kingdom with a student visa but who do not actually follow any course of study and live either from an online job, or from their annuities, or from YouTube videos or other odd jobs. It can be clearly estimated that they are irregular immigrants.
Some scammers. The Thai police regularly stop it
Others that I don’t know how to classify
I have seen that a very large number of these immigrants do not make disproportionate "integration" efforts.
All these immigrants do not necessarily taste (taste in the sense of obviously appreciating) local cuisine. There are also supermarkets everywhere that offer French cooking. I met some French people who only eat forced and forced Thai dishes, or only consume burgers and steak / fries.
I also met French people, but also nationals of other European countries who refuse to learn to speak Thai and do not take language classes.
Including people who have lived in this country for many years.
A large number lead a very community life, sharing exclusively activities with nationals of the same nationality, leaving each other, therefore making NO effort to integrate.
It is these people who massively voted to throw out of France people who have left their country to try to find a better life, who for many are learning to speak French, making efforts to integrate into society. Not all probably but a lot.
In short, immigrants from Thailand have massively voted for an anti-immigrant party.
