Battambang is a very big city in the north west of Cambodia almost as big as Siem Reap, which is much more touristic as Siem Reap is the gateway to the Angkor temples. I liked Battambang very much as it has a very special atmosphere that reminded me of Chang Mai, the big city in the north of Thailand. It’s a very quiet city with little traffic and where the people seem to take time to live. Holy, the owner of the Pomme hotel (the best hostel in Cambodia) says it’s a unique city in the world. It’s a place where I spent only two days and where I really want to come back to discover other aspects of the city that I didn’t have time to know but also just to stroll in the streets.
I was lucky enough to be able to photograph young women who had just been given their diplomas, but also on my way to visit the tacle temples I was able to take some interesting photos along the way.
I could have gone straight to Siem Reap because my time is limited in Cambodia but I was keen to go through Battambang to do the boat ride from Battambang to Siem Reap and it’s definitely a decision I don’t regret. It was one of the most beautiful days I spent during my trip
