This second day is devoted to a more thorough discovery of the district of Khao San Road.
I begin to visit the many, many temples, each one more beautiful than the last.
What is striking is that they are perfectly maintained, repainted, restored, a striking contrast with the dilapidation of most of the houses and buildings in this very poor neighborhood.
Today, I infiltrate the small streets, discovering huge flower markets. The amount of Thais working in the making of offerings for the temples, it’s incredible.
This day also gives me the opportunity to appreciate the sudden violence of the monsoon rain.
These children playing in a puddle while a few meters away, elegant students in matching suits go wisely to class.
I am impressed by the quantity and size of the schools, libraries, universities.
I end up at the beginning of the night discovering the diversity of Bangkok with the Indian quarter, separated from the Chinese quarter by one of the city’s many canals.
