In principle, applying for a visa is not very complicated. You just have to go to the embassy’s website, fill in a questionnaire and provide the requested documents.

But …

For a tourist visa of 3 months, it is simple. But for a one year visa, in Thailand, the quantity and the diversity of the certificates to be provided is discouraging. And especially it is very long to obtain all these elements. Here is the list:

  1. Passport information page (must be valid for at least 18 months at the date of departure)
  2. Official color passport photo (Photomaton) less than 6 months old
  3. Form declaration well filled in, dated and signed (Click here to download)
  4. A medical certificate stating that you are in good health and that you have no contagious disease. All handwritten documents must be clearly legible.
  5. A recent police record (less than 3 months old)
  6. Proof of residence in France (electricity bill, mobile phone, etc.)
  7. Proof of resources: a bank balance of 24,000 euros per applicant (or 48,000 euros if it is a joint bank account) to be presented in the form of a recent bank certificate (less than 1 month old)
  8. Health insurance with a minimum coverage of 100,000 US dollars, including specifically COVID-19 treatment, valid upon arrival in Thailand covering 1 year from the date of arrival in Thailand
  9. A Foreign Insurance Certificate form covering 1 year, duly completed by your insurance company, with an agent’s signature and an insurance stamp, will be required. The minimum amount of coverage 3,000,000 baht must mention: foreign_insurance_certificate
  10. A photo of you carrying the information page of your passport.

The price of this non-immigrant visa OA: 175 euros.

It’s been 2 months since I started and I still don’t have all the documents!!!
